Adolescent MindsSupport

Our Story

Adolescent Minds Support began with a simple belief: young people do better when they feel heard, understood and supported.

Why AMS exists

The teenage years are full of change: new responsibilities at school, shifting friendships, pressure from exams and social media, and big questions about identity and the future. Too often, young people face these experiences quietly, afraid of being judged or unsure where to turn.

Our founder, Florence Afuah Amissah, was driven by a passion for empowering young people and supporting families. She established AMS to raise mental health awareness, reduce stigma and encourage emotional resilience, positive relationships and early help-seeking among adolescents.

From a vision to a movement

AMS started with education: accurate, age-appropriate conversations about mental wellbeing in schools and communities. It grew to include positive peer support, recognising that young people often turn to each other first, and that they can be equipped to respond with kindness and good information.

That thinking led to AMS CONNECT, our flagship school-based teen advocacy club. AMS CONNECT gives students the chance to learn, connect, practise and lead, with teenagers like our Lead Teen Advocate, Tracelyn Ebbe, using their voices to make conversations about wellbeing engaging, relatable and accessible to their peers.

Where we are going

We envision a society where every adolescent feels heard, understood, valued and supported to thrive emotionally, socially and academically. We will keep growing through partnerships with schools, families, professionals and organisations who share that vision.
