Safeguarding Policy
How AMS keeps adolescents, volunteers and partners safe.
Last updated: 29 October 2026
Our commitment
AMS is committed to creating supportive environments where adolescents feel valued, informed and empowered. Everyone connected with AMS has a responsibility to promote welfare and prevent harm.
Who this policy applies to
All board members, staff, volunteers, partners, contractors and representatives of AMS.
Our principles
The welfare of the adolescent is paramount. All adolescents have the right to protection from abuse and exploitation regardless of age, gender, disability, background or belief. We act promptly on concerns and share information only with those who need to know.
Safe recruitment and conduct
Volunteers and representatives are reviewed before taking on roles, must accept a code of conduct and receive safeguarding orientation. Roles involving contact with adolescents take place in school or group settings with appropriate supervision, never in unsupervised one-to-one settings.
Online safety
We do not request private contact details from minors through this website. Photographs and videos of adolescents are used only with parental or guardian consent and never reveal a child's home address or other sensitive details.
Our boundaries
AMS delivers education and peer support. We are not a counselling, clinical or emergency service. Where specialised support is needed we encourage referral to appropriate professionals.
Reporting a concern
If you are worried about a child's safety, contact us on 0593200728 or adolescentmindsconnect@gmail.com. If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police or call 112 first. All concerns are treated confidentially and recorded, and the Board is informed of serious matters.
Review
This policy is reviewed regularly by the Board.
